The road is long (but I'm nearly there)
See those hairpin bends? I think I’ve just rounded the last one.
Publishing is a challenge. Compared with republishing, though, it’s a walk in the park. But yep, I’m nearly there. Olive Blues is just about back and the sequel won’t be long - watch this space for more details.
Days spent on various e-mails to the Kindle Direct Publishing customer service (they were great) and Goodreads (pending). A really great graphic artist who knows his stuff and really nailed what I was looking for (thanks, Sam). A few frantic calls for help to my daughter, the übergeek and overall wonderful person. Wine and sympathy dispensed by the Other Half when my brains were fried.
In a couple of days it’ll be time to start on social media posts and that thing called “marketing” in general, which is arguably even more terrifying than pushing the “publish” button.
This time around, I feel absolutely at ease. No more cover I never liked. No more personality clashes with a publisher whose ethics are different from mine. Never again the surprise on waking up and finding my book deleted from Amazon without consultation or warning.
In the end, it’s all good. I’ve learned a lot. I’ve had some tremendous support from friends and fellow writers. And according to my “naggers in chief”, it’s time to get on with some writing.
